Resolved Question: Determining the forces on a crane outrigger?
I am trying to determine the forces on the outriggers of a crane. This is a simple crane supported at the four corners with outriggers, and has a solid boom somewhere between horizontal and vertical and the load is at the tip of the boom hanging down. The boom weight is a fraction of the total machine and load weight. Thanks

Resolved Question: rowing in hawaii??
I would love to get into rowing in Hawaii. I've seen the outrigger canoes on some videos or read about them a little in some travel books. I was on the crew team at Ohio University and I loved rowing...how do you get into it in Hawaii? Are there clubs you can join for fun or for competition? Is it really expensive? Is it much harder than rowing in a regatta? Thanks! I should also add I'm going to be living there by the end of Feburary so i'm looking to row and train with a team.

Resolved Question: Russian/Polish military Speedboat??
Hi I have a Russin/Polish built military speedboat, I have been trying to find out information on the boat or any links that may be fruitfull on the internet but nothing so far as i'm not even sure what these craft were called or what designation they were under. Perhaps with the power of Answers someone out there will know exaclty what it is and where i can find out information about it. sorry but cant upload any images. All i know is that it was built at the military boat yard at gdynia in 1971 (stocznia marynarki wojennej Gdynia). And used by the military, primarily to be towed behind lorries for deployment in difficult to reach areas, it has detacheable outriggers with lorry wheels and suspension that act as the carriage system that are attached to the rear, it is simply backed into the water and then the outriggers are removed Its mainly fibreglass with bronze fitments and is exactly 7.2 m long, its original engine was out of a Lublin Lorry.. Thanks in advance

Resolved Question: How do I paint an outrigger?
I race canoe with several other blind people (check us out at www.ocmap.org). Some women had their paddles painted with a paint scheme matching their canes. I'd like to do the same with the help of a sighted person. Since we'll be using our paddles in salt water, I wanted to get this right. Sorry I meant outrigger "PADDLE".

Resolved Question: Suggestions for Fiji honeymoon?
Hello there! We finally decided on a Fiji honeymoon !!! Neither of us has been there - that was the only condition for picking our honeymoon location :) We're spending 8 days at the Outrigger on the Lagoon on the Coral Coast on Viti Levu + last 3 days on laid back Tokoriki Island Resort. My fiance and I enjoy hiking and exploring the local cultures. We're not sure if we'd want to rent a jeep to drive around, will see when we get there. I've browsed online for activities, tours etc. but I would love to get any suggestions based on your personal experiences on Viti Levu. What is the must-see not-to-miss things to do, recommendations on restaurants, tours etc.

Resolved Question: Inheritance Question?
I recently inherited some fishing equipment from my uncle when he passed away a few weeks back. Never been before but I hear its the biggest participent sport in the UK with 1 in every 2 people going every weekend. Anyway may question relates to the equipment and how I should best use it (I don't want ot look like some amater). Its a 130 ton steel outrigger shrimp trawler 'The Mary J Bilge' (named after my mother) holed up in Grimsby. I was thinking of taking it for a quick spin this weekend. I was even thinking of letting Crystal, my pet octopus, go for a little swim (on a long leash obviously). Any tips from you fishing boffins?

Resolved Question: How do you feel about sailing out to the Great Barrier Reef in a giant 'Outrigger Canoe'?
The 'Outrigger Canoe' is intended to be a modern version of the outrigger canoes that populated the South Pacific. It'll be 30 metres long, driven by non polluting clean wind energy, the fastest big sail boat around and will operate from the Whitsundays or Cairns. The crew will be indigenous and white, young, fun and musical, the food will be harvested from the sea and and the drinks will be tropical. We'd love to know what you think. Thanks.

Resolved Question: How come there are no aircraft carriers with outrigger, like outrigger canoes?
Having outriggers mean better balance. With 3 hulls, even if one is damaged you have two more. Means you have 3 runways instead of only one.

Resolved Question: Bakit ang aircraft carrier walang katig?(Why is it a/c have not outriggers?)?
I have asked this question before from another forum. The U.S. Navy deigns to reply. (Tagalog translation: Dehins sumagot.) And so I decided to offer the question to a forum of my peers, the Pinoy community, whose purity of thought is unquestioned. This is a serious question that has been weighing me down, and I may totally capsize without outriggers to keep me in balance. Also, to get your attention and make a one-time show of appreciation for all those who expressed endearments when I felt ill one night. I am delighted to inform you that the medical community, at my request, has discovered a cure for which there is no known disease. And so I took a turn for the nurse.

Resolved Question: Reasonably priced Kauai hotel with a great pool?
My husband and I are taking an anniversary trip to Kauai. We can't decide which hotel to choose. We'd prefer something romantic with as few screaming kids as possible! A hotel on the beach, although we don't need beach front rooms. We don't want the most expensive, nor do we want the cheapest. An in room fridge and microwave are essential, and a kitchenette or condo even better. Here's the deciding factor- we want a great pool. Not the typical rectangle concrete pool. It is essential that the pool have waterfalls and a relatively natural feel with rocks, good landscaping etc. Waterslides and a winding river would be great. The best pools appear to be the Grand Hyatt (out of our price range) and the Outrigger Waipouli but some hotels don't have good photos to compare with. The Outrigger is in our range, but I've read that the hotel location and some rooms' views are crappy. Can anyone with first hand experience recommend a really cool pool hotel with a moderate price? Just to clarify, we are looking in the $250-$300 a night range. The Outrigger Waipouli sounds great and is almost ideal for us. We love the look of the rooms and pool, but I've read that it is in a noisy, crowded area. We'd just like to find something comparable with a similarly creative pool and three stars that is in a less busy location. We don't need a private pool, we'd just prefer a couples oriented/ romantic hotel over a kid friendly one.
